In short you should stay away from this headset.
Pro: Better sound quality compare to Q1.
Con: Everything else.
BlueAnt first generation smart headset Q1 despite some manufacturing quality issues is a blast to use. Its voice control command set are well plan out and the voice recognition function is dead on. My Q1 finally die after years of use and I immediately jump ship to the second generation Q2, it is a very disappointing experience. I wish I have read some review on the Q2 upfront and not pull the trigger right away.
One major change in Q2 is it push a lot of the “voice” command function to the phone itself. This is not necessary a bad thing if you do it right. Q2 definitely did do it right.
First the “voice speed dial” function is gone and replace by using the phone build in voice dialing. Problem is my iPhone seems to have problem understanding my voice command through Q2. Typical voice command that work flawlessly through other Bluetooth or wired headset will fail if use though Q2.
Q2 now integrates with “Bing-411” to provide voice control searching. Once again it suffer the same problem as the previous mentioned phone command issues. Typical Bing-411 voice command that works well using other Bluetooth head set will fail with Q2.
The worst part got to be Q2 so call “Hear your message on the go” feature. It basically ask you to go download Vlingo and use it to send and receive SMS through the headset. First Vlingo is not a free application. Second, Q2 did not interact with Vlingo in any special way, thus any Bluetooth headset will behave exactly the same. Thrid, it still suffer from the voice command not work through Q2 problem.
For whatever reason, Q2 internal DSP circuit must have processed the voice command to a point that the receiving end fail to properly decode it.
Hopefully it will release a F/W upgrade soon which will address this problem. In the mean time stay away from this headset.
